Compassion in Action

The Compassion in Action Committee at the United Church of Gainesville is one component of the wide variety of outreach that we do. CIA oversees our annual OxFam fundraiser and 36 hour fast, ending with a 'break-fast dinner' at the church. 

We also coordinate our Christmas season Angel Gift program, where members can sponsor less fortunate families with children during the holiday season. CIA also provides 'mini-grants' to needy families and organizations during the holiday season.

During the month of February, CIA sponsors the Gainesville Area AIDS Network, where we provide basic toiletries and supplies for those suffering from HIV related illnesses.

CIA has also been known to sponsor book drives for childrens organizations as well coordinate meals for Dorothy's Cafe here in Gainesville.
