UCG uses all kinds of instrumental music in many different services. If you play an instrument, there is a place for you.
First, there is the all church band. Everyone who has ever played a musical instrument is invited to come and play with the all church band in December, (a Christmas Medley) and on July 4 weekend (Stars and Stripes Forever). Practice is just before the service, and it always works. Larry Reimer and David Reiser direct the all church bands.
Second, two or three times a year we gather a jazz band to play at retreat or at worship. Larry Reimer directs the jazz band
Third, is the Hogtown Strutters, a Dixieland, Rhythm and Blues, band that plays about four times a year directed by Larry Reimer
Fourth, is the Hogtown Pickers. This is for bluegrass singers and pickers directed by Andy Bachmann that plays regularly at worship.
Fifth, is instrumental ensembles, brass, woodwinds, etc., coordinated by Mark Burlingame for worship on a a regular basis.
Sixth, guitars and basses are needed just about every Sunday in worship accompaniment. While we have a part time paid pianist, we are also looking for people willing to play piano at worship. Kathy Funke coordinates music for Sunday morning worship.
If you play an instrument, there is a place for you at UCG. Call the church office and let us know of your talent and interest.
